2015
December 2015 was a warm humid month with good falls of rain.
The rain total of 103.6 millimetres was 15 mm higher than the average with a number
of moderate falls throughout the month. The highest daily fall was 36.2 mm on
the 23rd.
Due to numerous cloudy days, temperatures were only slightly higher than the
long term average with no notable extremes.
Thunderstorm activity was close to normal with some of the storms producing
moderate falls of rain, but no hail.
Winds were mostly light to moderate easterlies which is
normal during summer.
Noteworthy
events:
16th - An intense low pressure trough moved
through eastern New South Wales generating showers and thunderstorms. In
Armidale storms arrived in the late afternoon with rain continuing into the
night. Total for the 24 hours to 9am on the 17th was 29.2 mm.
22nd
- A low pressure trough over north-eastern New South Wales brought heavy falls
to Armidale in the afternoon from thunderstorms, with rain continuing into the
evening. Total for the 24 hours to 9am on the 23rd was 36.2 mm which was the
highest daily fall for over two years.
